The opportunity

This is a superb opportunity but cards on the table – it’s probably not really for an ‘up and comer’ this one. You don’t need to be someone champing at the bit to be the next FD.  You need to be proactive and be someone wanting to develop, have variety and be challenged but you don’t need burning ambition to climb the career ladder to secure this role.

It’s not because the business isn’t growing or because they don’t promote internally – it’s just that if they are honest there are already people in the team who are on that journey.

That doesn’t mean you’ll be overlooked, undervalued or given the rough end of the stick, it’s just that’s the current shape of the succession model.

They need a superstar who enjoys being at this level and doesn’t need the pressure of constant career climbing anymore.  Someone who will enjoy being given the autonomy to do a great job and add value but without major pressure to keep pushing uphill.  It’s a great work life balance (2-3 days home working per week).

And I think that level of honesty is cool (and pretty refreshing IMO)

You’ll be working with great people. The role is broad and involved and there’s chance to add value, suggest new ideas and change. There’s projects to fire into. It’s also working for an approachable, modern thinking and honest FC.

• Required:
• A track record of success in a management accounting or reporting role – CIMA or ACCA finalist or qualified.
• Great analytical skills – ability to identify trends, anomalies, variances and discussion points within the P&L.
• Confidence using Excel.
• Ability to work in a team but also high degree of confidence when working independently (home working 2 -3 days per week and the rest of your time is in the team in Stoke).
