Financial Controller  | Leeds  | £50,000 – £60,000 per annum plus suite of benefits  

The Opportunity

£20m turnover group amid an ongoing growth (double digit for the last 3 years with the same level forecast for 2024) have an opportunity for an ambitious recently qualified accountant to join them as Financial Controller. 

It’s an exciting new ‘number 2 in finance’ role – reporting to the CFO of the group. You’ll be working for a talented, forward-thinking and ambitious mentor, someone who can supercharge your development and learning.  

There will be an element of ‘being thrown in at the deep end’ in this role – the CFO is looking for someone who is ready for their first FC role and will enjoy being given a reasonable degree of autonomy and freedom. 

There’s stack to get involved in including embedding a new ERP system.  There are potential competitor acquisitions on the horizon and there is also chance to be involved in the DD / M&A activities. 

You need to be comfortable with the day to day BAU – management accounting, financial analysis and reporting, review of month end, supporting junior colleagues and making sure the transactional procedures and processes are all slick and streamlined. 

You’ll be someone who knows their way around a set of management accounts and have qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA.  You may have spent some time in practice or have come up the industry ladder.  It’s likely you are currently at Senior Management Accountant / Senior Financial Accountant level.  

You will be driven, keen to develop and career focused.  It’s a hands on role in a professional SME and you need to be someone who enjoys an agile SME versus a large corporate. 

Required: 

• ACCA, ACA or CIMA – completed. 
• A track record of success and rapid development – currently operating at Management Accountant / Financial Accountant or Finance Manager level. 
• Solid core technical accounting skills (from practice or industry) 
• Outstanding attention to detail and high accuracy.   
• Confident analytical ability and advanced Excel
