Part Time Financial Controller  | Matlock (Peak District) | £55,000 (full time equivalent) 

The Opportunity

Number 1 in finance for a thriving SME in the Peak District.  The group directors and investors are looking for an experienced and modern finance professional to join their change journey.  The role is broad and challenging – reduced hours 3 or 4 days per week.

The role reports directly to shareholders / MD level and you will be the primary finance contact for the organisation. You’ll lead a small team but it’s a hands on role and would suit someone who will enjoy digging down into the numbers.  

There’s chance to throw yourself at an overhaul in the first 6 months- you’ll have the freedom and encouragement to design systems, processes, controls and reports that you feel best suit the needs of the business.  

You’ll be given the autonomy to shape the MI and board pack to include financial summaries that you feel will best underpin decision making and growth.   

You’ll play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, cash management, cost reduction plans, profit maximisation plans.  This is a healthy £4m – £5m turnover business, a down to earth setting with an excellent reputation in their specialist market.  

It’ll be a hugely rewarding part time role and there is scope to FD level for the right candidate.  

Required: 

• ACCA, ACA or CIMA  
• Previous track record of success as Finance Manager / FC / Head of Finance  
• First hand awareness of the requirements of an SME in the <£10m turnover bracket  
• Someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and proactively making change.  Someone who will enjoy putting their stamp on the financial systems and processes.  
• Ability to enhance and develop the existing reporting pack and MI.  
• Someone who can discuss complex financial info with a very wide range of stakeholders from owner managers to banks and investors.
