Financial Controller | Doncaster | £50,000 – £60,000

The Opportunity
Do you want to be a tiny cog in a giant faceless PLC responsible for fixed assets? Me neither.
This is a broad and very hands on number 1 role in a welcoming owner-led SME.
It’s a diverse group of companies with lots going on and plenty of interesting ongoing projects.
Your remit includes all aspects of the day to day bookkeeping and financial management / reporting for the group – bank and interco recs, VAT returns, month end close, management accounting etc.
You’ll be supported by 2 accounts clerks who take ownership of the transactional duties (AP processing etc).
There’s lots of autonomy, working for a professional and modern-thinking MD.
This role suits someone who loves the top to bottom of finance – someone who enjoys being an integral member of an SME and has no issue with rolling up sleeves and digging into the detail where required.
The role is a result of a retirement and current systems and neat and tidy. There is plenty of scope for you to bring your own ideas and changes if you see opportunity to improve efficiency or make processes slicker.
A varied role in a modern SME.
Required:
- Experience as Company Accountant / Finance Manager or FC in a diverse smaller business.
- Ability to undertake a hands on and extremely broad role encompassing bookkeeping and management accounting for a growing SME.
- Ability to solve problems in a calm and proactive manner.
- Confidence when communicating to a none finance audience.
- Ideally experience of a group of companies.
- Experience of Xero ideally.
