The Opportunity

Absolutely superb role in a highly ambitious PE-backed SME delivering exciting growth. 

You’ll be joining a profitable £20m+ turnover group amid a scale up.  They have received PE investment very recently and it’s an incredible time to join the journey. 

The leadership team have significant expertise within their lucrative niche and have delivered impressive revenue and profit growth over recent years.  PE investment provides a springboard of expertise and funding to supercharge the next phase of ambitious expansion. 

You will be the first true permanent FD into the business and have opportunity to play a significant and highly rewarding role in the scale-up.  You will be part of a strategically aware and commercially astute boardroom – working with the existing directors and PE backers to deliver excellence. 

You will own the full train set when it comes to financial leadership – reporting to (and working in close partnership with) the talented and driven MD.

You’ll overhaul existing reporting & embed robust financial controls and an enhanced board pack.  You’ll present meaningful and insightful MI & commentary.  You’ll drill into profit and revenue levers and be a vital finance business partner to the rest of the leadership team. 

It’s a key role as a sounding board for financial decision making, business strategy and tactical direction. 

Alongside organic growth there is also likely to be opportunity to look at bolt on acquisitions and previous M&A experience may well come in handy. 

It’ll be a fast-paced, interesting, rewarding and exciting PE cycle that you will be involved in from day one.  A chance to be fully part of the rapid “scale to exit” story over the next 3 – 5 years.  Incredibly valuable experience for the right candidate. 

It’s just a superb opportunity if you are someone who loves the cut and thrust of a rapid growth SME setting where you will feel completely integral. 

You need to be:

• A modern-thinking and ambitious Finance Director with experience of delivering success within a professional growth SME (ideally with previous PE experience although not essential).
• ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified. 
• Highly commercially astute and able to present to (and influence) board level directors / investors / key stakeholders.
• Confident in your ability to bring highly insightful and meaningful MI that will underpin evidence-based decision making. 
• A naturally collaborative business partner able to build excellent working relationships with the SLT and boardroom. 
• Hands on.  You will manage a small and highly capable team but the business requires an FD who is not afraid of rolling up sleeves and getting into the nitty gritty where required. 
• Someone with a firm understanding of embedding controls and process around cash management / WIP / balance sheet integrity / financial reporting etc.
