Assistant Accountant | £35,000 + benefits | Harewood, Leeds

The Opportunity

Vibrant, modern and ambitious owner-led SME have an opportunity for a diligent and enthusiastic Assistant Accountant (full time or perhaps 4 days per week).

You’ll be number 2 to the Financial Controller for the business – supporting with all areas of transactional finance for the group (AP, sales ledger and credit control, payroll and expenses, reconciliations, month end reporting etc)

It’s a fast paced small growing company (15 permanent employees currently) and you’ll play a vital role.  As the business continues to expand and your knowledge and understanding develops you will have chance to broaden your skill set. 

It’s a really welcoming and collaborative team, you’ll be working for an approachable and highly experienced FC and an infectiously enthusiastic and driven MD/owner. 

You’ll enjoy plenty of autonomy and a sensible work life balance.  The role is busy and there is plenty to do but there is no expectation of overtime / out of hours working.  In fact the role could fit around school drop offs / pick ups / other commitments if someone was looking for reduced hours. 

You will ideally have previous experience of purchase ledger / sales ledger / general month end accounting tasks (from either an accounting firm or another small professional business). 

You will be a conscientious and methodical Assistant Accountant / Finance Assistant / Bookkeeper.  Someone who takes pride in their accuracy and natural attention to detail. 

You’ll have solid IT skills and ideally previous experience of Sage software. 

It’s a role for someone who will enjoy making a difference to an aspirational growing business in a varied transactional accounting position. 

Required:

• Previous experience of core transactional accounting (ledger duties, reconciliations etc) 
• A positive attitude to solving new problems and picking up new tasks. 
• Good understanding of Excel / general IT skills. 
• Ability to work with autonomy and naturally well organised. 
• Professionalism, common sense and ideally a great sense of humour!
