The Opportunity

Superb opportunity for a capable, commercially astute and professional FD. 

You’ll be joining a £40m turnover group as number 1 in finance, reporting to the ambitious, talented and infectiously enthusiastic UK MD.  The business is expanding – rapidly! Through targeted acquisition and organic growth they have seen revenue more than double over the past 2-3 years. 

You are joining at an exciting phase of continued expansion which will give you the opportunity to be involved in interesting and valuable ongoing M&A. 

You’ll be a vital sounding board as a key member of the UK leadership team.  It’s a chance to really make a difference and be part of the rewarding growth story.

Your remit is the full train set in terms of finance leadership – managing the finance function, enhancing the existing controls and reporting, developing a modern board pack, delivering insightful MI… as well as being part of the acquisition cycles. 

There’s loads to go at.  The MD is looking for a hands on, commercially aware FD who will enjoy getting under the bonnet of the business.  Someone who will enjoy proactively driving positive change.  It’s a role that will allow you the freedom to really understand the levers of success and the drivers of profit within a group with an excellent market position. 

What we are looking for:

A high calibre Qualified Finance Director capable of operating as number 1 in finance for 

an ambitious growth business. 

• You will be an intelligent and commercially aware FD with high IQ, clear emotional intelligence and natural gravitas.  
• M&A experience would be useful to ensure potential future acquisitions could be taken advantage of and smoothly managed as and when they arise. 
• You need to be able to operate as a trusted advisor and business partner to the MD and wider leadership team in a down to earth but aspirational and professional SME. 
• Whilst previous PE experience is not necessarily a pre-requisite, this individual must clearly demonstrate the ability to work within a fast paced, dynamic and ambitious business with a focus on growth and positive change (and the associated demands).
• You will need to have operated at FD / Head of Finance level (either divisional HoF or FD within large corporate or number 1 in finance within a professional SME).  This is a role with strategic focus and the individual needs to clearly demonstrate they can (and have) operated at professional board level. 
• It suits an ambitious character with natural proactivity.  Someone tactically aware and very hands-on but able to operate at a strategic level within an agile and highly aspirational SME.  You must be comfortable with change and able to navigate the challenges associated with investment-backed growth.

This is a superb opportunity for the right candidate, they need to demonstrate absolute excellence. 

This is a board level FD position but is also a hands-on role.  Particularly within the first 6 – 12 months when you will be getting into some of the nitty gritty and building an awareness of the business and the numbers from the bottom-up.  It suits a finance professional who is comfortable rolling up sleeves wherever required.
