Senior Management Accountant / Financial Controller (first step from practice) | Kirkby-in-Ashfield | £50,000 – £60,000

The Opportunity

This is a thriving £20m turnover business looking for a talented accountant to join the business during a phase of investment, change and scale-up.

It’s a professional and ambitious business with a superb position within their niche market.   You’ll join an infectiously high energy and extremely talented FD who can offer career-impacting mentoring and support. 

Your role is hands on – preparing and presenting accurate monthly management accounts with insightful board-level commentary. 

You’ll work with colleagues across all areas of the business and you’ll have the freedom and autonomy to use your communication and business partnering skills to gain valuable commercial awareness. 

The experience and exposure here is superb – it’s a collaborative SME amid a period of modernisation and transformation and the FD will equip you will all of the tools and experience for you to become FD down the line. 

You need to be someone diligent and conscientious with pride in your attention to detail.  You also need excellent analytical skills – ability to use Excel to bring succinct insights and MI to the table. 

You’ll be responsible for the core monthly accounting / month end schedules but also have freedom to develop the existing pack – drilling into revenue streams, profit, margins, cost drivers, KPIs… again hugely valuable commercially focused activity aimed and driving further growth and success of the group. 

There is also scope for potential acquisition / merger exposure downstream. 

This is just a great first or second step from a regional practice for someone with high ambition, high energy and a proactive approach. 

Required:

• ACCA, ACA or CIMA. 
• Superb core accounting experience and understanding plus experience of management accounting. 
• Confident IT / analytical skills. 
• Natural drive, proactivity and curiosity. 
• Professional and outgoing communication skills.
• Ability to manage your own time and workload. 
• Open to learning new tasks – with a calm and tenacious approach to solving new problems. 

 Fundamentally this is an excellent first step to industry for someone career ambitious.
